You have arrived on Koen's little place of the website....

A little bit about myself:

I arrived in New Zealand in October 1998 coming originally from Belgium.  It was in New Zealand that I started working in the IT Industry, my first job was at AC Nielsen this was a Desktop support role, here I obtained my MCSE (on NT4.0) and CCNA. I decided to leave to get more exposure to Cisco.

The new challenge I found at Telecom NZ where I also met my dear friend Shailen.  It was here that I got more exposure to Cisco Gear and obtained my CCNP and CCDP.  My CCDP I mainly obtained as preparation for my CCIE and... Cisco Reward Points.  But things change in a persons life and I had enough of the shift work, weekend work etc... and moved on again.

I discovered that working in a pure WAN environment lacked a bit of the challenges I experienced when I was working in LAN environment so I started to look for another job, more LAN oriented.  I was lucky to find such a position and was hired as the Senior Network/Security Engineer at iVASP In the beginning a great place to be, new challenges, Windows 2000, Checkpoint Firewalls and still working with Cisco (but not as often) but not a great atmosphere workplace wise.

Since this was a fixed term contract I had to look for another role after my year there.  I landed another contract with Manukau City Council, in Auckland.  This contract was to deploy a Wireless LAN using Cisco Aironet equipment. This was my first exposure to Wireless LANs and it turned out to be a nice challenge not just technically but also on the people skills side, dealing with a City Council is dealing with a lot of red tape......

After a short time as an IT Tutor at Avonmore Tertiary Academy, which I did not enjoy because you lose grip with technology I have a new role as network engineer with Airways Corporation New Zealand.

In the meantime I've become a moderator at MCMCSE which I really enjoy doing.

And I am the author of 2 CCNA 640-801 exam test available at CertifyPro and Free-Tests.com.
